The first meeting of the Committee to plan and discuss the 2013 Burton Beer Festival (the 34th!) is happening this week. Come along at 8pm on Tuesday 2nd October to the Burton Old Cottage.
Just a reminder of the upcoming October Branch Meeting on the 9th October. The meeting will be taking place at the Meynell Ingram Arms at Hoar Cross. The Committee meeting starts around 7:30pm with the main meeting proceeding at 8pm.
All CAMRA members are welcome to join the meeting, interested non-members are also welcome. Come along and meet the Branch!
November’s Branch meeting will be back in Burton Town, likely at the NBC Brewery Tap, conformation to follow.
Almost 5 months ahead of the closing date, the ePetition has hit it’s target, triggering a debate in the House of Commons on the annual 2% rise in beer tax that has led to a 42% tax hike since 2008.

For many months now, members of CAMRA have been trying to drum up support for people to sign the epetition, forcing parliament to debate the beer duty escalator. At time of writing (11th September 2012) the petition stands at 96,475 signatories!
Burton & South Derbyshire once again shines with a whopping sixteen pubs entered into the Good Beer Guide for 2013.
There’s a press embargo in action until the 13th September but after that keep an eye on this site, and look out for the “We’re in the Good Beer Guide” certificates displayed in your locals!
