Parliamentary Debate seems on the cards

For many months now, members of CAMRA have been trying to drum up support for people to sign the epetition, forcing parliament to debate the beer duty escalator. At time of writing (11th September 2012) the petition stands at 96,475 signatories!

Currently, without discussion, the tax on beer rises by 2% above the rate of inflation. Whilst a parliamentary discussion on the topic won’t drop the price of a pint, if successful, it should prevent or reduce future year-by-year price hikes.
