This year’s Pub of the Year presentation. Tuesday 10th June, 7:30pm, Black Horse, Coton in the Elms, DE12 8HJ.
The Leopard in Tutbury, is getting in the festive spirit, by hosting a Christmas Carol event next week.
On Tuesday 11th December from 7pm, local school children are performing Christmas Carols followed by the Tutbury Community Choir – Local Vocals – who will be performing a Christmas Concert from 8pm.
Admission to this event is FREE, however donations can be made to support the local school. The Leopard is a great example of a Community Pub, so if you’re enjoying a pint while listening to the concert, don’t forget to submit NBSS scores as Tutbury is one of our under-scored Branch regions!
Following in the footsteps of several pubs, The Royal Oak in Barton-under-Needwood, will being offering 10p off a pint of real ale to CAMRA members. Just flash your membership card Monday to Friday and feel smug!
But the good news doesn’t stop there! Don’t forget that Steve and Katy are running a mini Beer-Festival on Saturday November 10th!
CAMRA’s online pub database has recently gone live to members. Check it out at http://whatpub.com. You can find pubs geographically, by name or branch area, and has all the information you would expect from a Good Beer Guide entry (although GBG status is not given) such as range of drinks, opening hours and food availability.
Just a quick link to a recent article in the Burton Mail, highlighting the number of pubs in our Branch area getting into the GBG 2013. Full list to come!
Burton & South Derbyshire once again shines with a whopping sixteen pubs entered into the Good Beer Guide for 2013.
There’s a press embargo in action until the 13th September but after that keep an eye on this site, and look out for the “We’re in the Good Beer Guide” certificates displayed in your locals!
So congratulations go out to the the Cooper’s Tavern for winning a Silver Medal (it seems’ everything is going Olympic themed) in the West Midlands Cider Pub of The Year.
Members of the committee and the Regional Cider Representative, Sally Lavendar will be having a small presentation at the Cooper’s on Wednesday the 29th August at 7:30pm. Especially if you’re not familiar with this wonderfully historic and friendly pub in Burton, come along, say hello and try a few of the ciders! As ever, plenty of casks of ale if Cider’s not your thing.
